Introducing the NiK Kacy Brogue Chelsea Boots!
Posted on March 25 2019
Happy Spring everyone! Now that we've sprung forward and the landscape is gorgeous from all the rainfall we've had, I feel ready to finally release my first Chelsea Boots! I've hinted at the design for a year now, testing and redesigning until I felt satisfied with the design. The reason it took so long was because ensuring a genderfree fit and aesthetic is not simple nor easy. There are many elements I experiment with first in all my designs and the Chelsea was not exception. I first wanted to use a zipper design as seen in the prototypes our brand ambassador Lee Dawn Hershey wore in our photoshoots. However, I made the decision to go the traditional Chelsea route and stick with elastic because it simply allowed an easier fit for more types of feet. Elasticity gives a lot more room to play with for easy entry into the boot and it allowed for me to play with colors. In the final rendition of the Chelsea Boot, I used a brown elastic on the outside of the shoe and a black on the inside. I really played with the two-toned aesthetic on this design and used a brogue design on the counter area (by the heel) that I hadn't seen anywhere else before. To add to the stylish silhouette, I also used a two-toned leather welt with the recycled tires soles for an overall rugged and durable look and feel. Of course, the signature red-stitched equal sign is still there, along with the red-welt stitching. This goodyear-welted design will surely be the boots you'll want to wear all year-round. I truly hope you like this design as much as I do!
